Back then, cartoons were great. Violence was the answer to all, and comical violence was no exception. Back in them days, Dick Dastardly and Muttley competed in a contest called the Wacky Races, which was a show consisted of a bunch of guys racing for a win, with Dastardly and Muttley cheating every step of the way, and ending up dead-last. Ah, those were the days. Now cartoons are nothing but sly remarks and dirty jokes. Well, gear up your memory bank, because Altus answered our prayers, with a game starring Hanna-Barbera's greatest cartoon character, Muttley!

Of all the rotten luck! Will our heroic villains ever win a race? The game has three worlds, each with three levels, and a boss in every level. Something dastardly happens to Dick Dastardly that prevents the Mean Machine from ever winning a race. Enter Muttley, who bravely goes out to right any wrongs. Great story, huh? However, the story is unlike most of the cartoons, which is sad, because we all want to see Muttley rig the race instead. Nevertheless, our heroic villain does his best to find missing engines, and rescue Dick Dastardly from desperados and automobile accidents. Will Muttley succeed? Will the Mean Machine win the race?

Go, Muttley, go!Along Muttley's path, there are evil things that prevent him from succeeding. Things such as evil plants and bunny rabbits. Muttley defeats them by biting them. But what happens if they are too strong to face head on? The power-up system in this game is great. You pick up bones, and the four-block menu at the bottom of your screen gets an arrow which starts at the bomb, and you press the "select" button to access it. The icon dissapears, and the arrow does, too. Now, instead of biting opponents, you bomb them! Suppose you don't like bombs. Easy. Collect two bones in a row and press "select", and you can bark a horrible bark at the adversaries! Bad dog breath kills everything in your path! Now, suppose you don't like plummeting back to earth after jumping. Simple. Collect three bones in a row and press "select", and you gain the ability to glide back down to the ground by tapping the jump button. Finally, you start the game with three hearts. To gain more and to replenish your health, collect four bones in a row, hit "select", and you receive the bonus! And you can save the heart power-up for later when you need it most, as long as you don't accidentally collect a fifth bone, which will bring your arrow back to the bomb icon. Diamonds are like gold coins in Super Mario Bros. Collect 100 and you gain a life. Grab a picture of Muttley, and you gain a life. Touch an enemy, and you lose a heart. Lose too many, and you're hurtin' lots.

Quick, Muttley! Bomb the Creepy Coupe!Along the way to victory, you face a boss, which are just other Wacky Racers who get in your way. Apparently, they hate the Mean Machine, Dick Dastardly, and Muttley, and will do whatever it takes to eliminate them! But Muttley knows better. He bombs the fools! He barks at the fools! Heck, he even pities the fools who get in his way! There ain't no way that Creepy Coupe is gonna get in the way of Muttley and his mission! So get out there, Muttley, and beat the fools! But don't forget to drink your milk, eat your greens, do your homework, feed the dog, don't do drugs, and get eight hours of sleep! And don't listen to them bad words! That's jus' jibba jabba!

So for a nostalgic look at a forgotten game, this is the one. It's short, but sweet. And I pity the fool who don't play this game!

Sound: 3.0 / 5.0
Control: 4.5 / 5.0
Fun: 5.0 / 5.0
Graphics: They look just like a cartoon! It's so easy on the eyes, and playing through the levels scream at you with vibrant colors.
Sound: However, the game tends to scream at you in a different way. The sound effects are okay, but it's hurting for better music.
Control: And I pity the fool who thinks that the controls are as bad as the music! The controls are so simple, even the most novice of Super Mario Bros. 3 players can get the hang of it!
Fun: As short as this game is, it has a high enough replay value to get your groove on! Oh, yeah! This game is the illest trip around, fool!

This game has the best 'Game Over' screen around! Back to the reviews, now. Drink your milk!
